CV Fire Prevention

Firefighters from Kirwan Heights hosted a Fire Safety and Prevention Day at Chartiers Valley Primary School today. Students and teachers were given a tour of our apparatus and equipment. Paramedic / Firefighter Richard Ward spoke to kids about the importance of fire safety and prevention.

Home Depot Safety Day

Firefighters from Kirwan Heights, Presto, Bower Hill, and Heidelberg joined up to participate in a Fire Safety Day hosted by The Home Depot at their store on Washington Pike. Everyone in attendance got a chance to paint pumpkins, build a fire truck or helicopter, and check out each department's apparatus. Activities for the kids included balloon animals, pumpkin painting, and several kids and their parents participated in a fire extinguisher drill.

Thank you to The Home Depot for hosting us and another successfully year.

RIT Response

Kirwan Heights Fire Department RIT Team responded to 125 Noblestown Road for the reported dwelling fire. Our crew arrived onscene to find a 3-story residential structure with active fire in the basement. KHFD RIT Team was onscene about 1 hour while firefighters from Bower Hill, East Carnegie, and Glendale worked to extinguish the fire. Crafton, Greentree, and Heidelberg Fire Departments were also on standby during the time of the fire.

Washington Pike MVA

Kirwan Heights Fire Department & EMS responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident at Washington Pike and Steen Road. Initial reports were of several persons entrapped in the vehicle. Crews arrived onscene to find a rear end style collision. All persons were self-extricated.

EMS treated and released two persons. Washington Pike towards Bridgeville was reduced to one lane during clean-up.
