Girl Scouts Visit Kirwan

Members of local Girl Scout Troop 50099 stopped by Kirwan Heights for a station tour and first aid lecture. They are working towards their First Aid and Safety badges currently.

Bob Evans Fire Safety Night

Kirwan Heights hosted a Fire Safety Night at Bob Evans on Tuesday. Below Katelyn Wylie enjoys a tour of Rescue 124. Her and about 30 other children toured our apparatus and learned about fire safety.

Clean Up Collier

Members of Kirwan Heights and Rennerdale Vol. Fire Depts helped other volunteers from Collier Township in the annual Clean-Up Collier Day held each year during April.

FDIC - Indianapolis, IN.

Mutual Aid Structure Fire

About 0600 hours this morning, Kirwan Heights Fire Department was dispatched along with crews from East Carnegie, Glendale, Bower Hill, Crafton, Greentree and the City of Pittsburgh for a "blazing commercial structure fire" at 235 Noblestowns Road. Kirwan Heights' Rapid Intervention Team and later our Station 770 Firefighter Rehab units responded.

Thankfully there were no injuries during the fire.

FDIC - Indianapolis, IN.

Kirwan Heights Fire Department has taken the opportunity to send several of our Fire Department officers and members to the annual FDIC convention in Indianapolis, IN. The members attending the week long conference will be participating in a wide range of classes and training. FDIC also boasts the largest vendor area dedicated to new fire suppression and rescue technologies. We look forward to their return and the new training techniques that will return with them.

R.I.T. Response

Kirwan Heights Rapid Intervention Team responded into Mt. Lebanon to assist with an early morning residential structure fire.the Mt. Lebanon and several other departments. The blaze went to 3 alarms, but was quickly contained by an aggressive interior attack by the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department.

After early reports that there may be entrapment on the 2nd floor, it was found that the residence had been evacuated. There no injuries reported at this fire.

Fluid Cleanup


Kirwan Heights Fire Department was dispatched for a disabled vehicle on Washington Pike. The vehicle had leaked several gallons of transmission fluid on the roadway. Crews remained onscene for cleanup and traffic control until a tow truck could remove the vehicle.
